Schola Cantorum Jubilate was invited by the organising committee within the Ministry for Gozo to take part in the events organised for the inauguration of the newly restored Citadella in Victoria.
Today Schola Cantorum Jubilate sang the Wedding Mass of Carolina Salamanca and Herman Calleja at the National Shrine of Ta' Pinu. Mass started at 2.30pm with the choir welcoming the bride with Bach’s ‘Jesu Joy of Man’s desiring’. Right after the exchange of vows the choir performed ‘Ubi Cartias’ to greet the new couple. ‘Take Me O Lord’ by Francesca Leftley was performed during the offertory procession and was interpreted by soprano and choir director Marouska Attard.
The San Lawrenz Local Council organised an activity ‘Swejjaq’ in the village square that was recently upgraded and refurbished as part of their project of embellishment of the village. ‘Swejjaq’, a sort of open market was organised with the support of the locals and NGOs present in this Gozitan village.
After a meeting in the morning which served as a follow up of the last concert and the 11am mass at Basilica of Xagħra, the choristers went for lunch together. Such moments serve to spend some quality time together and strengthen our relationships.
Schola Cantorum Jubilate animated the Nuptial Mass of Maria Mercieca and Jason Bonello at the Qala Parish Church. Mass was officiated by Mgr. Xerri, uncle of the groom.
The choir interpreted various pieces amongst which: ‘Ave Verum Corpus’ (Mozart) and ‘Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring’ (Bach). The choir was under the direction of Marouska Attard and accompanied by Ronald Camilleri (organ), Pierre Louis Attard (violin) and Noemi Attard (flute).
