The-Golden-Palm-Award

Schola Cantorum Jubilate received an unexpected reward – the Golden Palm Award. This award is given annually by San Lawrenz Parish to the musician or organisation which along the year succeeded in its achievements.

This special event takes place during the village feast week where the whole community gathers in the square and attends for a festival of music. This year’s soirée was compered by Charles Saliba who at the very end invited Fr. Ignatius Borg, the Chaplain to present the award to the Choir Leader Stefan Attard.

Mr. Saliba read out the choirs’ achievements and also the Committee’s reasons for chosing the Schola Cantorum. It came out clearly that the choir works with professionalism and commitment and this is seen in its productions and milestones.

Stefan Attard on behalf of the choristers thanked the Chaplain and Community of San Lawrenz for recognising the sacrificies each chorister does in order to keep on moving in the musical education and in enriching the musical cultural scene on the island. He dedicated this award to all choristers and to all those Gozitans who are taking up their studies seriously to succeed in the musical scene.

Surely it was another remarkable day for the Schola Cantorum Jubilate...not just for the award but for the fact that there are people who really appreciate and acknowledge thirteen years of constant musical education and a lot of voluntary work.
