Schola Cantorum Jubilate animated the Nuptial Mass of Sylvianne Zahra and Jeffrey Allan Xerri at the Gozo Cathedral. The bride was welcomed in church by Schubert’s notes of the ‘Ave Maria’ which was interpreted by Soprano Georgina Gauci, who interpreted also the solo part of Franck’s ‘Panis Angelicus’ sung during the communion.
The other pieces the choir interpreted were: ‘Allelulia’ (Taize’), ‘Ave Verum Corpus’ (Mozart), ‘Sanctus’ and ‘Agnus Dei’ (Oltrasi), ‘Il-Mulej qam mill-imwiet’ and ‘Jubilate Deo’ by Paul Portelli who was also conducting the choir during this wedding. Joseph Camilleri accompanied the choir on the church organ.
The mass was officiated by Mgr. Joseph Attard, Archpriest and started at 4.45pm. For the recessional, organist Camilleri interpreted various pieces amongst which Mendelssohn's ‘Wedding March’.
