Spring brings around fresh air and many colourful flowers which in this period of the year attract many young couples to unite in matrimony.
In fact, the first wedding for 2014 for Schola Cantorum Jubilate was celebrated today at 5pm at the Basilica of Xagħra and was officiated by Fr. Joe Farrugia.
Nathalie Attard, bride of Stephen Portelli, was welcomed in church by Gounod’s interpretation of the ‘Ave Maria’ by Soprano Georgina Gauci. The other pieces which followed were: ‘Panis Angelicus’ (Franck), ‘Sanctus’ and ‘Agnus Dei’ (Oltrasi), ‘Make me a channel of your peace’ (Temple) and the ‘Jubilate Deo’ (Portelli).
The choir was under the direction of Mark Gauci and accompanied by Joseph Camilleri on the organ together with Jacob Portelli (violin) and Noemi Attard (flute).
