Schola Cantorum Jubilate animated the Nuptial Mass of Gustine Attard and George Tabone at the Basilica of Xagħra. Mass started at 3pm and was officiated by Mgr. Felix Tabone, uncle of the groom.
The bride reached the altar led by the pleasant fragrance of the May flowers which adorned the altar. During the procession, all present assisted for the premier of ‘L-Għanja tal-Għanjiet’ a new composition composed by Chris Muscat with lyrics from the Old Testament arranged by Fr. Joseph Bajada. This piece is for a soprano, bass and choir in SATB.
It was interpreted by bass Albert Buttigieg and soprano Marouska Attard. During this piece, the choir, soloists and ensemble were under the direction of Mro. Antoine Theuma.
Choir Director Marouska Attard conducted the choir and ensemble during the other pieces – ‘Ave Verum Corpus’ (Mozart), ‘Sanctus’ and ‘Agnus Dei’ (Oltrasi), ‘Make me a channel of your peace’ (Temple) and finally ‘The Lord Bless you and keep you’ (Rutter). The psalm ‘Ħenjin dawk li jibżgħu mill-Mulej’ (Portelli) was interpreted by Cantor Stefan Attard.
The ensemble was formed by: Joseph Camilleri (organ), Jacob Portelli (violin), Charleen Caruana (violin), Frank Camilleri (cello) and Noemi Attard (flute).
