The Xagħra bells rang joyously in the morning as the parishioners strolled along the main roads following the ‘Corpus Christi’.
More bell ringing was heard later in the morning as Elena Portelli entered in church to join in matrimony with Christopher Gauci. She was welcomed in church by Soprano Georgina Gauci who interpreted Schubert’s ‘Ave Maria’.
Mass was officiated by Mgr. Arc. Carmelo Refalo and started at 11am. The choir and Jubilate Ensamble were under the Direction of Mro. Mark Gauci.
The repertoire for this festive celebration included: ‘Panis Angelicus’ (Franck), ‘Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring’ (Bach), ‘Sanctus’ and ‘Agnus Dei’ (Oltrasi) and Mendelssohn’s Wedding March.
