le="text-align: justify;">The Fontana Parish Church together with the Fontana Local Council presented ‘Hora Gloriæ', a concert with meditations organised by the Schola Cantorum Juiblate who is celebrating its tenth anniversary. The concert started at 7pm. After an introduction by the newly appointed Parish Priest Fr. Joseph Bajada, Manuel Cauchi started with the first meditation. Mr. Cauchi who hails from Gozo, is a well-known actor and during this concert was assigned with the reading of meditations. Originally, these poems were written by a Spanish Father José Miguel Ibánez Langlois and published in a book ‘ Libro de la Pasión' in 1986. Rev. Joseph Bajada translated the text into the Maltese language.

The poem narrates the major episodes of the last days of Jesus according to the gospel but from a new perspective. Each meditation was linked with a choral or solo piece. The choir performed ‘O Sacrum Convivium' (Bartolucci), ‘Christus Factus Est' (M. Debono), ‘Jesu Dulcis Memoria' (P. Portelli), ‘O Bone Jesu' (G. P. da Palestrina), ‘Popule Meus' (G. P. da Palestrina), ‘Stabat Mater'(Z. Kodály), ‘Adoramus Te' (G. P. da Palestrina), ‘Ubi Caritas' (P. Portelli). The choir performed also two new pieces ‘Crux Fidelis' by Portelli and ‘Nunc Dimittis' by Debono. Another new piece written by Portelli was a ‘Miserere' written for soprano, organist and cellist. This was interpreted by Marouska Attard (soprano), Jacob Portelli (cellist) and Joseph Camilleri (organist). Dr. Camilleri accompanied also Anita Vella Bondin who interpreted ‘Pie Jesu' by Fauré. Mrs. Vella Bondin interpreted also the solo part in Portelli's ‘Ubi Caritas'. The organisers tried to give a contemplative moment to the audience in this special time to the year and such objective was reached.
