Christmas Concert

le="text-align: justify;">For the second consecutive year, Schola Cantorum Jubilate was invited by the Lija Local Council and the Lija Parish Church for a Christmas Concert- Christus Natus Est. This was held on Wednesday 28th December 2005 in one of the oldest Church in Malta – that of tas-Salvatur. Undoubtedly this is a precious treasure with regards its architecture.

Christmas Concert

le="text-align: justify;">The Christmas Carols interpreted by the young voices of the Schola filled the air with the spirit of Christmas. The encouraging audience had the opportunity to listen to various traditional carols: ‘Silent Night', ‘Joy to the World', ‘O Come all ye faithful' and even contemporary carols like ‘The coming of Christmas' by Prof. Mro. Charles Camilleri. The choir interpreted the Gregorian chant – ‘Alma Redemptoris Mater' edited by Mgr. Marco Frisina and even the latter's arrangement of the Franciscan hymn ‘Gloria in cielo'. Carols or ghanjiet tal-Milied (in Maltese) were also given their importance. Mro. Paul Portelli of Zurrieq had done a special arrangement – ‘It-Trittiku tal-Milied'- of three most popular ghanjiet for Chirstmastime. These are: ‘Sinfonija Pastorali', ‘Doqqu Qniepen' and ‘Is-Sultan Twieled'.
