Wedding of a chorister

1st August 2015

SCJ with the new wed chorister Therese and JosephSpecial greetings go to chorister Alto Therese Attard and her spouse Joseph Galea as they united in marriage at the Basilica of Maria Bambina in Xagħra. The Nuptial mass was officiated by Rev. Fr. Joseph Bajada and started at 5.30pm.

As guests started entering in church, they were welcomed by Daniel Vella (trumpeter) and Ronald Camilleri (organist) who interpreted Clarke and Purcell’s Trumpet Voluntaries. However, as the bride walked along the aisle towards her groom, Marouska Attard interpreted Gounod’s ‘Ave Maria’.

The repertoire for this special occasion included ‘Allelulia’ (Gabrieli), ‘Ave Verum’ (Mozart), ‘Sanctus’ (Portelli), ‘The Lord Bless you and keep you’ (Rutter) and ‘Ir-Rgħaj u s-Sid Tiegħi’ (Grant). The latter had a new musical arrangement penned by Paul Portelli for the occasion. It included the accompaniment of a violin and a flute.

As the new couple was signing the certificates, the choir interpreted Handel’s ‘Halleluiah Chorus’ with a special dedication to the newlyweds. At the very end of the ceremony, the musicians joined together and interpreted Mendelssohn’s ‘Wedding March’.

Dear Therese and Joseph, we wish you a pleasant harmony as you start a new chapter in life.
