Today, the church initiates the Paschal Triduum and Schola Cantorum Jubilate animated the Maundy Thursday celebration at Ta’ Pinu National Shrine. During this celebration the church commemorates the Last Supper of the Lord.
The choir was under the direction of Marouska Attard and accompanied on the church organ by Joseph Camilleri. The repertoire included ‘If ye love me’ (Tallis), ‘Ubi Caritas’ (Gjielo) and ‘O Sacrum Convivium’ (Bartolucci). Stefan Attard sang the Psalm ‘Il-Kalċi imbierek’. The ceremony ended with the choir singing ‘Pange Lingua’ in plain chant while the celebrant placed the Eucharist on the Altar of Repose for the adoration of the faithful.
