wedding symbolsSchola Cantorum Jubilate animated with Wedding Mass of Luana Attard and Eric Portelli at the Basilica of Xagħra. Mass was officiated by Mgr. Arc. C. Refalo while the wedding rite was administered by Fr. Eddie Zammit.

As the bride (ex-member of Schola Cantorum Jubilate and sister of Director Marouska Attard) entered in church, she was welcomed on Muscat’s notes of ‘L-Għanja tal-Għanjiet’. This particular piece is a dialogue between the bride and her groom and its text is taken from the Canticle of Canticles. The duet was composed by Christopher Muscat and interpreted by  Marouska Attard (soprano) and Albert Buttigieg (bass).

The other pieces interpreted during this wedding included: ‘Ave Verum’ (Mozart), ‘Make me a Channel of your peace’ (Temple) and ‘Haec Dies’ (Zelenka).

The choir was under the direction of Marouska Attard, except for the first piece which was directed by Joseph Debrincat. The Jubilate Ensemble accompanied the choir during the wedding liturgy
