St. John Bosco’s Feast SCJ was invited by Salesian Fr. Charles Cini to animate a mass for the Old Boys’ of St. John Bosco at St. Patrick’s Church in Sliema. It was officiated by Mgr. Anton Borg together with other Salesian priests. The mass started at 11.30am.
The choir crossed the channel and arrived at Sliema to participate in this mass on the occasion of St. John Bosco’s feast. Schola Cantorum Jubilate, under the direction of Marouska Attard and accompanied by John Anthony Fsadni on the organ interpreted various pieces from the organ loft. The repertoire included ‘Jubilate Deo’ (Pachelbel), ‘Allelulia’ (Taize’), ‘O Taste and See’ (Vaughn Williams), ‘Sanctus’ (Portelli), ‘Ave Verum Corpus’ (Mozart) and finally a hymn to St. John Bosco known as ‘Giu dai colli’ (Gregorio).
