It-Teatru Manoel (Malta's National Theatre) in collaboration with Vocalise presented the Bank of Valletta Opera Festival 2006. Schola Cantorum Jubilate was the choir featured in Henry Purcell's opera ‘Dido and Aeneas' in concert version, held at the Auditorium of the Sacred Heart in St. Julians, Malta. Purcell based his masterpiece on a tragedy by Nahum Tate. This Baroque opera was directed by Mro. Christopher Muscat and with the participation of Vocalise Chamber Ensemble. The ensemble leader was Marcelline Agius. This opera is scored for a small string ensemble and a continuo. In fact Mario Psaila (cello) and Caroline Calleja (continuo) had a very demanding role in their instrumental playing. The cast included Rosabelle Bianchi (Dido), Charles Vincenti (Aeneas), Marouska Attard (Belinda), Claudia Tabone (Second Woman, Spirit), Corazon Mizzi (Sorceress), Michelle Cachia Castelletti (First Witch), Charlene Aquilina (Second Witch) and Fabian Galea (sailor). This production turned out to gain the audience attraction and satisfaction. Present for this soiree were representatives from the BOV and other distinguished persons amongst which the well know tenor Paul Axiak. There were also critics from the local and German press.
