Din l-Art Helwa foundation invited Schola Cantorum Jubilate for the annual Palazzo Parisio Concert. The concert was held in the Palazzo Ball Room and started at 7.30pm. The concert was divided in two parts: the first part consisted of sacred pieces while the second part included secular ones. The sacred pieces were: ‘O Bone Jesu' (Palestrina), ‘Ave Maria' (Victoria), ‘O Salutaris Hostia' (Portelli), ‘Oh come oh come Emanuel' (Gregorian), ‘Alma Redemptoris Mater' (Frisina), ‘Ecce Panis Angelorum' (Perosi), ‘Ave Verum Corpus' (Mozart) and ‘Jesu Joy of Man Desiring' (Bach). Then Marouska Attard, director and soprano performed two solo pieces: ‘Le Soir' (Thomas) and ‘Chanson d'Amour' (Faure'). Following the solos, the female sections performed ‘English Country Garden' (Opus 102a) by Herbert Chappell. Then the males joined in for the last part which included ‘As Torrents in Summer' by Elgar of who the 150th anniversary of birth is being celebrated. The concert finished with ‘The Long Day Closes' by Sullivan. ‘Jubilate Deo' (Portelli) was performed as encore. Clare Massa accompanied the choir on the piano. The audience appreciated the singing and even the pieces performed. Present among the audience were the Founder President of Din l-Art Helwa, Judge Maurice Caruana Curran, members of Din l-Art Helwa and other important personalities. Following the concert there was a buffet dinner in the same palace.
