A thanksgiving mass for the first profession of Sr. Georgianne Marie Sultana was held at the Basilica of Marija Bambina, Xaghra at 11am. Sr. Georgianne Sultana, 23, hails from Xaghra and was baptised with the name of Melissa. On Saturday 25 th October she had taken the vows and joined the Ursuline Sisters of Sliema who are better known as the Crèche. They take care of young children who come from different backgrounds and religions. In this occasion, Sr. Georgianne was accompanied by her family and the parishioners to thank God for her vocation.

The mass was officiated by Mgr. Carmelo Refalo while nine other priests and three deacons concelebrated. Schola Cantorum Jubilate animated the liturgy. They interpreted the ‘Missa Cantate Domino' by Oltrasi. During the introit the choir performed ‘Jesu Rex Admirabilis' (Palestrina) followed by an arrangement of a Gregorian ‘Allelulia'. Bartolucci's ‘O Sacrum Convivium' was performed during the offerings and the ‘Magnificat' (Portelli) during the communion. Being the last Sunday of October, which is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, the choir ended the mass with ‘Ave Maris Stella' (Perosi). The choir was under the direction of Marouska Attard and accompanied (during some pieces) on the organ by Mro. Stephen Attard. During this mass, the choir performed pieces by three composers who served as maestri di cappella in different periods at the Cappella Pontificia Sistina…Palestrina, Perosi and Bartolucci!
