Today happens to be the 125 th anniversary of the Calling of Our Lady of Ta' Pinu to Carmela Grima of Gharb. The celebration started at 10.10am with a special prayer at the exact time of the call. Then, at 10.30am, a High Mass was celebrated by H. E. Bishop of Gozo, Mgr. Mario Grech. Schola Cantorum Jubilate was accompanied for the first time by the Johannes Monarke Organ. The ‘Missa de Angelis' by Terenzio Zardini was performed. It is in four voices and alternates with the assemblea which was led by Seminarian Daniel Sultana. The other pieces performed were: ‘Totus Tuus' (Frisina), ‘Is-Setghani ghamel mieghi hwejjeg kbar' (psalm) by Paul Portelli which was sung by Stefan Attard (tenor and leader), ‘Allelulia' (Gregorian chant with arrangement by Frisina), ‘Kristu qam mill-imwiet' (Portelli), ‘Missierna' (Gregorian chant) and ‘Magnificat' (Portelli). During the offerings, Marouska Attard interpreted the ‘Ave Maria' by Caccini. The ‘Te Deum' (D'Amato) was sung as thanksgiving to God for His constant protection. Before the mass came to an end, the congregation was blessed by the Holy Eucharist. The choir performed the ‘Tantum Ergo' (Portelli) and the Gregorian chant of ‘Adoremus in Aeternum'. Then as the congregation was leaving the Shrine, ‘L-Innu lill-Madonna ta' Pinu' (arr. Portelli) was performed. The choir was accompanied by Mro. Stephen Attard.
