This year happens to be the 125 th anniversary of the Calling of Our Lady of Ta' Pinu to Carmela Grima and Frangisk Portelli. For this occasion, a Marian Symposium was held from the 4 th till the 8 th of June in one of the halls at Ta' Pinu. Lectures were delivered from professors at the Marianum Pontifical Theological Faculty. The lecture on Friday started with the recital of the Akatistos which was led by H. E. Archbishop Emeritus Joseph Mercieca. The Akatistos is a 5 th century Marian hymn which expresses the trustful recourse of the people to the Mother of God. The female section of Schola Cantorum Jubilate animated the responsorial verses and the Allelulia. They entered the Ta' Pinu Shrine in a procession singing the ‘Ave Maria' by Arcadelt. Jean Noel Attard accompanied the choir on the organ. Present for this recital, were various Parish Priests and religious groups from Gozo , Malta and Italy together with other faithful interested in the symposium.
