Today masses are not celebrated and instead a service known as the Adoration of the Cross is held at 3pm. The choir animated the liturgy at Ta’ Pinu National Shrine.
All bells and musical instruments amongst which the organ, will not play as a sign of mourning for the passion and death of Our Lord.
Today, the church initiates the Paschal Triduum and Schola Cantorum Jubilate animated the Maundy Thursday celebration at Ta’ Pinu National Shrine. During this celebration the church commemorates the Last Supper of the Lord.
Schola Cantorum Jubilate, in collaboration with the Birkirkara Parish Church of St. Mary organised a concert with the aim of raising funds for the restoration of the church’s unique architecture.
Before the 11am mass, SCJ spent about 30 minutes of carols singing. Many got accustomed to this tradition and were present in church to listen to the choir.
Like in the past years, choristers met for a get-together on Christmas Eve. Before the usual speeches, they watched together a 10-minute presentation featuring all the events and occasions the choir went through this year (2015).
Later they exchanged gifts and greetings and ended the meeting with some prosecco and pannettone.
