Tour to France

Chevaigné, Rennes and Mont Saint Michel

22nd to 26th of June 2012
Monday 25th June - Touring / Concert Mont St. Michel

Schola Cantorum Jubilate was all set for a full day at Mont Saint Michel where the respective choir was to perform a choral recital in Saint Pierre Parish Church. The whole group left Chevaigné at 9 a.m. and had an hour bus-ride. Before the concert, the choir members had the opportunity to go up to the abbey and perceive its beauty.  Once inside the Church, the male section of the choir interpreted ‘Veni Creator’ (Gregorian) and later all choristers joined in singing Arcadelt’s ‘Ave Maria’. At 2 p.m. Schola Cantorum Jubilate gave its due concert. A good number of passers-by as well as the people who were seated for the concert filled the church to listen to the respective pieces performed by Schola Cantorum Jubilate. Everyone was in cheers and applauds when the concert was over, especially after the encore ‘Tina l-Ħlewwa’ (Caruana), which is a Maltese piece. After the recital, the choir was on its way to the city of Rennes which is an hour and a half away from Mont Saint Michel by bus. The choir members had two hours of free time where they were allowed to do some shopping or taste the mouth-watering cakes which were also very appealing to the eye. The Schola Cantorum went back to Chevaigné from the short visit to Rennes by train and was later invited at the Meeting Hall for the last dinner together with the local families.
