Tour to France

Chevaigné, Rennes and Mont Saint Michel

22nd to 26th of June 2012
Sunday 24th June - Mass / Grand Concert at St. Pierre's Chruch Chevaigné

It was drizzling on Sunday morning, but the choir was all set and ready to animate the 9.30 a.m. mass in the Parish Church of St. Pierre in Chevaigné. A good number of people attended the mass and the Parish Priest Ren  David introduced the choir to the people and words of praise were put forward on the choir and its members. The choir interpreted pieces by:  Palestrina, Gabrieli, Mozart, Portelli, Franck and Arcadelt. The rest of the morning was left free for the members to do whatever they liked and get some rest before the concert in the evening. A visit to the market at Betton was optional, but it was definitely a worth visit. At noon the choir members were invited for lunch with various families. At 7 p.m., Schola Cantorum Jubilate had a secular concert. Another two choirs, Chorale de l’Amitié and Chorale de l’EMI gave their performance as well. Schola Cantorum Jubilate performed pieces by Sullivan, Camilleri, Stanford and Rameau. Soloists Albert Buttigieg and Marouska Attard interpreted pieces by Rossini. At the very end, the choirs joined forces and sang the ‘European Hymn’ (Beethoven) in the three languages: namely Maltese, Italian and French. All the audience burst out in a cheer of applauds to the choirs. Schola Cantorum Jubilate was spoken very highly of. After the concert, the choir members joined the French and the Italian group to a well-prepared dinner at the Meeting Hall.
