Sunday 13th September - Mass at St. Stephen's Cathedral ( Vienna )

After the last breakfast in Linz, the group found Peter of Bitter Bus waiting to take them to Vienna. On the way, they admired the beauty of the Austrian countryside and a glimpse of the Wachau and the Vienna Woods. In Vienna, the bus headed to Kolping Wien Zentral Hotel where everyone rested a bit before starting the Vienna tour. At 4pm the choristers met Ewald Gargitter, the organist of the Krems Münster who cordially accepted the Schola Cantorum Jubilate's invitation to accompany the choir on the organ at St. Stephen's Cathedral. After a short rehearsal, mass started at 6pm and was officiated by Rev. Anton Faber, Archpriest of the Cathedral. Can. Joseph Sultana concelebrated. Present for the mass were around 600 people. Mass was in German and the choir performed: ‘Locus iste' (Bruckner), ‘Allelulia' (Gabrieli), ‘Ave Verum Corpus' (Mozart), ‘Sanctus' (Zardini), ‘Panis Angelicus' (Franck) and finally ‘Jubilate Deo' (Portelli). After the mass, the choristers had a warm greeting by Mgr. Faber who was surprised by the choir's performance. The soiree ended with dinner in Maredo Restaurant in front of the Stadt Opera. The Administration of Schola Cantorum Jubilate invited Mr. Joe Debono from the Embassy of Malta in Austria for dinner. Mr. Debono was present for the mass too. He gave a hand in the organization of the tour. After dinner, Mr. Debono led the group to Schwenplatz for a typical ice-cream.
