Valletta will be the European Cultural City for 2018 and various activities are being discussed and planned for this special year. The established talented Ruben Zahra composed a new piece for this special nomination. It is for choir in SATB accompanied by percussion.
'Music from the Chapel' is one of the concerts organised for the upcoming Notte Gozitana. The Chapel at the Sacred Heart Seminary in Victoria will open its doors for a concert featuring soprano Marouska Attard accompanied by Pianist Sofia Narmania.
Throughout the centuries, composers always sought their musical inspiration from the sacred text of the Holy Scriptures. In this vocal recital Marouska Attard will be performing sacred arias from oratorios by Bach and Handel and sacred motets by Mozart, Fauré, Brodsky and by the Maltese composer Paul Portelli.
Like in previous years Schola Cantorum Jubilate will be animating the Paschal Triduum at Ta' Pinu National Shrine in Gozo.
Gregorian Chants and sacred motets from great masters such as Palestrina, Bartolucci, Tallis and Portelli will be performed. The liturgy will be led by the Shrine Rector, Fr. Gerald Buhagiar.
