Today happens to be Mothers' Day and on thinking of all mothers around the world, one should not forget the mothers-to-be.

Dar Ġużeppa Debono organised this mass to bless the fetuses; the younger human beings still in womb of their mothers. Schola Cantorum Jubilate performed: 'Surrexit Christus', the Paschal Allelulia, 'L-Ikel tal-Ħajja' (Holst), 'Sanctus' (Portelli), 'If ye love me keep my comandemnts' (Tallis), 'Ir-Rgħaj u s-Sid tiegħi', the Gregorian Chant 'Regina Cœli' and finally 'Fil-Ħlewwa ta' Mejju' (Caruana).

The Maltese have a special veneration to the Basilica of Ta' Pinu, particularly to the painting of the Assumption of Our Lady. Many pray in front of this painting and ask for the intersession of Our Lady for all the problems which crop up. In fact before the dismissal, the couples expecting a child assembled in the chapel and prayed together.
