As in previous years, Schola Cantorum Jubilate sang various Christmas pieces before the 11am Mass at the Basilica of Xagħra.
The carol singing started at around 10.30am and people entering in church for the mass were welcomed by the choir announciating the joy of Christmas through music.
The High Mass started at 11am and was officiated by Mgr. Arc. Carmelo Refalo. During this mass, the sacrament of baptism was administered by Mgr. George Farrugia. Baby Hannah was baptised and welcomed in the Catholic Church congregation.
The choir performed the ‘Missa Cantate Domino’ by Giuseppe Oltrasi and various Christmas music amongst which ‘O Come all ye faithful’, ‘Joy to the World’, ‘Away in a manger’ and the Psalm (sang by Cantor Stefan Attard). During the offerings, Marouska Attard, who directed the choir, interpreted the most acclaimed Christmas piece ‘O Holy Night’. The choir was accompanied by Jean Noel Attard on the church organ.
