Schola Cantorum Jubilate had the last wedding service for the summer 2014. In fact, they animated the Nuptial Mass of Renée Sultana and Pierre Vassallo La Rosa at the Basilica of Maria Bambina in Xagħra.
Mass was officiated by Fr. Daniel Sultana, the newly ordained priest, brother of the bride. The ceremony started at 5pm when the bride reached the alter accompanied by her father while Marouska Attard interpreted Gounod’s ‘Ave Maria’.
The choir was accompanied by Jean Noel Attard on the organ and under the direction of Marouska Attard. It performed various pieces amongst which: ‘Allelulia’ (Taize’), ‘Noffrulek Kbir Alla’ (Caruana), ‘Santus’ and ‘Agnus Dei’ (Oltrasi), ‘Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring’ (Bach), ‘Salve Regina’ (Gregorian) and ‘Exaltabo Te’. As the mass came to an end, the organist interpreted Mendelssohn’s ‘Wedding March’.
