Artistic Director of Carols by Candlelight

Paul Stellini PortraitFor this year concert of Carols by Candlelight, Paul A. Stellini was asked to take the role of artistic director. After discussing the repertoire and theme, Paul brought about his ideas for this eleventh edition. He wanted to create a different setting from the previous editions and focusing on the theme of Peace, he suggested that the set will have an industrial look. He will use scaffolding and LED screens projecting images and films portraying themes linked with the carols that will be interpreted during the concert.

Who is Paul A. Stellini?

He was born in Sydney, Australia but returned with his family to their native island of Gozo when he was four years old. Mr. Stellini studied drawing under the tuition of renowned Gozitan artist Paul Camilleri Cauchi as well as design with Anthony Calleja. During the years 1989 -1991, he followed art courses in Perugia, Italy. In 2006 he graduated from the Art Institutes in New York after reading for a Bachelor degree in Interior Design. Currently he teaches graphical communications at the Gozo College Secondary School.  So far Mr. Stellini has organized 26 personal exhibitions both in the Maltese Islands as well abroad, namely in Canberra, Melboure, Sydney, London, Rome and Wales.  
His works can be found in private collections around the globe. Some of his works are found in the private collections of the English soccer stars Michael Owen, Phil Neal and David Fairclough and Irish actor Gabriel Byrne.
Besides being an artist, Mr Stellini is also an interior designer and has carried out endless tasks for local restaurants and businesses and even private homes. Over the years Paul Stellini has also been commissioned to carry out artist’s impressions and designs for various landscaping and embellishment projects around the Island of Gozo.

As a designer he also designed sets for the Operas (La Forza del Destino and La Boheme ), musicals (Les Miserable, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Scarlet Pimpernel, Jesus Christ Superstar and the Malta Song Festival all held in Gozo.
