On occasion of her 60 th Birthday, Maria Attard, Director of Ġużeppa Debono Home organized a thanksgiving mass at Ta' Pinu National Shrine, Għarb. She invited all her former and present students, friends and relatives. Present were also other teachers from Agius De Soldanis Girls' Junior Lyceum and Secondary School who were also celebrating their birthday. The choir, closely associated to Ġużeppa Debono Home because of its annual event of ‘Carols by Candlelight', animated the liturgy with started at 7.15pm and was officiated by H. E. Mgr. Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo. The celebration started with the choir singing ‘Surrexit Christus' (Taize') followed by the readings of some thoughts regarding the teaching profession. The choir performed the ‘Missa Cantate Domino' (Oltrasi) and the hymns: ‘Jubilate Deo' (Portelli), the Paschal ‘Allelulia' (arr. Frisina), ‘Il-Mulej qam mill-imwiet' (Portelli), ‘Jesus is my life' which is one of Maria's favorite hymns which has its text written by Mother Theresa and music by Mro. Marco Frisina and finally the ‘Magnificat' (Portelli). During the offerings, Marouska Attard, Maria's niece, performed impressively Caccini's ‘Ave Maria'. After the mass everyone was invited for a reception.
