In Xagħra exists an area known as ‘Sant’Anton’. The name derives from a Chapel dedicated to St. Anthony the Abbot whose feast is celebrated annually around the 17th January. The Chapel, though rebuilt and refurbished several times, was already existent in 1400. Schola Cantorum Jubilate animated the Vigil Mass which started at 6pm and was officiated by Mgr. Carmel Refalo. The choir performed the ‘Missa Cantate Domino’ by Giuseppe Oltrasi and the hymns ‘Miġbura lkoll’ (Elgar), Alleluia (Taizé), ‘Noffrulek Kbir Alla’, ‘Mulej ġejna qrib artalek’ and the ‘Tantum Ergo’ (Gregorian) and ‘Tina l-Ħlewwa’ before the blessing with the Holy Sacrament. Last but not least, the choir performed the ‘Innu lil Sant’Anton’ by Nazzareno Refalo.
