marvic weddingAugust brings more celebrations to Schola Cantorum Jubilate. In fact, today, all choristers met at Nadur Parish Church for another special occasion.

Two choristers Silvianne Buttigieg (Soprano) and Marvic Cini (Tenor) exchanged vows and promised eternal love in front of God and the congregation present for the celebration. The bridal entourage was welcomed in church on Pachelbel’s notes of the Canon in D, skillfully interpreted by Joseph Camilleri on the organ. However, the bridal entrance was accompanied by Schubert’s ‘Ave Maria’ which choir director and soprano Marouska Attard interpreted.

The Nuptial mass which started at 4.30pm was officiated by Fr. Joseph Bajada with concelebrants Arc. Jimmy Xerri, Fr. Salv Grima and Fr. Jimmy Bartolo. The repertoire included: ‘Alleluia’ (Gabrieli), ‘Ave Verum Corpus’ (Mozart), ‘Sanctus’ (Portelli), ‘Panis Angelicus’ (Franck), ‘If ye love me’ (Tallis) and finally from Handel’s ‘Messiah’, the ‘Halleluiah Chorus’. The groom led the congregation while singing the Psalm (PortellI). As the couple was signing the documents, Jason Camilleri (trumpeter) and Joseph Camilleri (organist) interpreted trumpet voluntaries including Purcell’s and Clarke’s. The Jubilate Ensemble accompanied the choir.

Indeed it was a moving ceremony on seeing how along the past fifteen years of SCJ, its members grew old together and now they are taking their statuses and responsibilities. But whatever comes along, the spirit of one true family prevails and in joy and sorrow SCJ gathers together!

Congratulations to Silvianne and Marvic. The Lord Bless you and keep you!
