The project planned from two years ahead got started. Schola Cantorum Jubilate together with some friends woke up early in the morning to catch the 5am ferry boat and headed to the Airport….destination Austria. The Air Malta flight left at 7.50am and arrived in Vienna at 10.10am. Before ascending the aircraft, the choristers met Air Malta's photographer Gino Cauchi, who took some pictures of the choir before the departure. This was done due to the fact the Air Malta sponsored part of the flight expenses. At the Vienna airport, they met their private bus driver Peter who took the group of 31 Maltese tourists to Linz, precisely to the Youthotel situated just 10 minutes away from the city centre. After a nap and a shower, the group met in the foyer to leave immediately to the centre. The first stop was at the New Cathedral of Linz, for which the ‘Locus iste' by Anton Bruckner was written. The choristers opened their files and sang this hymn in this enormous gothic cathedral. Can. Joseph Sultana, the choir's spiritual director who accompanied the choir in this tour, celebrated mass in Maltese on the main altar. Afterwards, the walk around the main streets continued. From the first impressions of the city, one could easily pinpoint that it is a beautiful and well organized city. Before returning to the hotel for a well deserved rest, the group had dinner in an Italian restaurant in one of the main squares.
