Schola Cantorum Jubilate has launched a cd with live recording of a concert held last year, precisely during lent 2010. This was one of the concerts organised on the occasion of the choir's tenth anniversary. ‘Hora Gloriæ' is the third cd launched by this youth choir. The first one, ‘In a Manger' was launched in 2003 and is no longer available and then ‘Jubilate' (2005).
The homonymous concert was held at the Fontana Parish Church by Schola Cantorum Jubilate in collaboration with the Fontana Parish Church and Local Council. The concert consisted of sacred pieces and meditations ready by Manuel Cauchi.
The cd includes sacred polyphonic motets sung a cappella in SATB and from renowned composers like: Palestrina, Kodály, Bartolucci, Debono and Portelli. The last two composers are closely associated to Schola Cantorum Jubilate and are very promising. In fact ‘Nunc Dimittis' by Mark Debono and ‘Miserere' composed for soprano and cello by Paul Portelli were premiered during last year's concert. The cd includes interpretations by the soloist and director Marouska Attard and by Anita Vella Bondin.
The meditations, included in the cd, were written by the Spanish Fr. José Miguel Ibáñez Langlois in ‘ Libro de la Pasión' (1986) . This epic narrates the main episodes in the last days of Jesus before the crucifixion. It was translated in various languages. The Maltese translation was done by Fr. Joseph Bajada.
The cd is available from the main music shops, shops which sell religious articles and from Schola Cantorum Jubilate (e. info@scjchoir.com / m. 79055207). It is ideal for this contemplative time of the year and can be used during retreats, meditations or prayer meetings.
