Rodianne Xerri, former member of Schola Cantorum Jubilate got married to Christian Xerri at the Basilica of Xagħra. The new couple requested the choir to animate their Nuptial Mass.
Mass, officiated by Mgr. George Farrugia, started at 5.30pm with the bride reaching the alter where her groom expected her excitedly. She was welcomed by Schubert’s ‘Ave Maria’ which was interpreted by Soprano Georgina Gauci.
The choir was under the direction of Mro. Mark Gauci and accompanied by John Anthony Fsadni on the organ, Jacob Portelli on the violin and Noemi Attard as flutist. They performed various classical and sacred pieces amongst which: ‘Allelulia’ (Taize’), ‘Panis Angelicus’ (Franck), ‘Sanctus’ and ‘Agnus Dei’ (Oltrasi), ‘Make me a channel of your peace’ (Temple) and finally ‘Exaltabo te’. At the very end of the ceremony, the organist played Mendelsshon’s ‘Wedding March’.
Schola Cantorum Jubilate extends its sincere greetings to the new couple.
Yes, happy anniversary for fourteen years together.

In fact the official launching of Schola Cantorum Jubilate happened on Sunday 20th August 2000 at the Basilica of Maria Bambina in Xagħra, Gozo.
The Gozo Cathedral bells rang joyfully as Maria Zammit and Mario Reno Cauchi joined in matrimony.
Mass started at 5.30pm and was officiated by Fr. Joseph Bajada, cousin of the groom. The bride was welcomed in church on Schubert’s notes of the ‘Ave Maria’ interepreted by Marouska Attard.
The choir, accompanied by Jean Noel Attard on the organ, performed: ‘Allelulia’ (Taize’), ‘Panis Angelicus’ (Franck), ‘Santus’ and ‘Agnus Dei’ (Oltrasi), ‘Make me a Channel of your peace’ (Temple) and finally ‘Exaltabo Te’ (Taize’).

Summer brings around many outdoor activities and encounters. Schola Cantorum Jubilate during the past month had various occasions to spend some time together.
During the past week, Schola Cantorum Jubilate hosted the University of London Chamber choir composed of 25 students and ex-students from the University of London. The choir is under the direction of Mro. Colin Durrant.
