After the hectic period which Christmas brings around, Schola Cantorum Jubilate continues with its weekend commitments. Choristers meet every Saturday afternoon for a rehearsal and again on Sunday morning for a rehearsal followed by the 11am sung mass at the Basilica of Maria Bambina, Xagħra.
However, apart from preparing itself with the suitable liturgical music for the Sunday mass, the choir has many important events coming up.
Albert Storace’s soul is soothed by Schola Cantorum Jubilate’s performance.
A concert with a different touch was that presented by the Gozitan Schola Cantorum Jubilate of Xagħra at San Lawrenz parish church.
A number of restoration projects have recently been completed at the parish church, which was packed for the concert.
Two of the projects concerned the restoration of four paintings by the renowned Giuseppe Calì and the prestigious organ.
More Christmas celebrations continue and the church commemorates all events linked to Christ’s birth. In fact, today, though it is not the 6th of January, the church celebrates the Ephiphany, the visit of three wise men who arrived from a far to offer gifts to the new born King.
This Sunday is dedicated to the family which is the focus of every society. On this special occasion, during the 11am mass, young Mikail Attard was baptised and welcomed in the Roman Catholic Church.
