Every year ‘Carols by Candlelight’ attracts many people from the various corners of society to share the joys that Christmas bring with it. This year was not an exception; having this edition themed after none other than Bethlehem. Bethlehem intervened twice during the event giving information about its historical facts, its geographical position and even about its rise from an unknown town to a highly acclaimed one. The text was penned by Silvana Sultana and voiced by Marion Sayers.
SCJ today accompanied chorister Anne Marie Bajada as she exchanged vows with her husband Gilbert Cassar. The nuptial mass started at 5pm at the Basilica of Maria Bambina in Xagħra. The mass was officiated by Fr. Mark Bonello while Deacon Joseph Hili administered the wedding rite. The choir, under the direction of Marouska Attard was accompanied by Joseph Camilleri on the organ, Jean Noel Attard on the violin and Yaroslav Miklukho on the cello.
For another consecutive year, SCJ animated the High Mass in commemoration of the Great Sieges of Malta. High dignitaries were invited for this mass amongst whom Hon. Dr. Justyne Caruana, Minister for Gozo and the Mayor and Councillors of Xagħra. This High Mass was officiated by H.E. Bishop George Bugeja together with other priests hailing from Xagħra. The choir was under the direction of Marouska Attard and accompanied by Ronald Camilleri on the church organ.
SCJ sang High Mass at the Basilica of Maria Bambina in Xagħra. This thanksgiving mass was held to inagurate the restoration and conservation works on the artistic statue of Our Lady. The choir was accompanied by Joseph Camilleri on the organ and directed by Marouska Attard.
Sonia Curmi and Joseph Grima chose the Saturday closest to the feast of the Assumption to celebrate their wedding day. They asked Schola Cantorum Jubilate to join them for their special celebration.
