Schola Cantorum Jubilate animated its first wedding of the season. The Londoners Gemma Sant and Matthew Benson chose Gozo to join in marriage. Their Nuptial Mass was held at Ta’ Pinu National Shrine at 4pm. It was officiated by Rev. Fr. Domenic Sultana. The choir was under the direction of Marouska Attard and accompanied by Joseph Camilleri on the church organ.
For the second consecutive year, SCJ held its spring concert followed by a tea party at the Ta’ Frenċ Courtyard.
The theme chosen for this year’s event was ‘Butterflies’. Everyone loves butterflies for their charm. They are also frequently associated with love. However, butterflies have their importance in nature and man, perhaps unintentionally, may harm and endanger these lovely species. In fact, frequently, we hear old people saying that in their younger age they used to see more butterflies around.
The Church today, festively announces the resurrection of Christ! Church bells together with beautifully floral settings contribute in enriching today’s solemnity. SCJ animate the 11am mass at the Basilica of Xagħra. It was officiated by Mgr. Carmelo Refalo, Archpriest.
Good Friday is a day of great solemnity for those who believe in Jesus Christ. On what the Jews considered to be the ninth hour of the day, which is the equivalent of three in the afternoon, Jesus, after having bore the Passion and nailed to the Cross, gave his life so that humanity could live forever. It was through his death on the Cross that Christ save the world. This is the reason why on Good Friday, Mass does not take place but instead, believers are invited to kiss the Cross which is the sign of our salvation.
