At 10.30am the choir started singing carols at the Basilica of Xagħra. The choir interpreted ‘God Rest you merry gentlemen’, ‘Ding Dong Merrily on High’ and ‘Lulla Lully Lullay’. Then at 11am the High Mass started and was officiated by Mgr. Arc. C. Refalo. The choir was under the direction of Marouska Attard and accompanied by Ronald Camilleri on the organ.
It happens to be the thirteenth edition of Carols by Candlelight, the event highly acclaimed and expected by many.
Tickets were sold within few hours and many were those who remained waiting for some cancellations in order to get the tickets. Carols by Candlelight became an exclusive event which opes the Christmas season in Gozo.
‘Layers’ was conducted by composer Dr Mariella Cassar-Cordina, artist Victor Agius, author Immanuel Mifsud and curator Dr Vince Briffa.
Just after two weeks since the last wedding, SCJ had another special feast since its choir director Marouska Attard got married to Simon Aquilina.
It was a special day for chorister Choristers Sephora Galea and her fiancé Joseph Zammit as they tied the knot. However it was a special celebration for Schola Cantorum Jubilate as one of its members reached another step in life.
