The National celebration of the Great Sieges of Malta was held at Xagħra. It started with a Pontifical High Mass at the Basilica of Maria Bambina in Xagħra that was officiated by Mgr. Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo.
The second day of September happens to be a remarkable day for the village of Xagħra, especially for the Xagħrin who remember the event of forty three years ago. In fact in 1973, H. E. Bishop Nicholas G. Cauchi crowned the statue of Maria Bambina, an event which is commemorated every year at Xagħra.
During this Sunday’s mass, Schola Cantorum Jubilate together with their parents, relatives and friends, thanked God for sixteen years since the choir’s inception.
After a well-deserved summer recess of two weeks, Schola Cantorum Jubilate met again for a wedding service.
Schola Cantorum Jubilate was invited by the organising committee within the Ministry for Gozo to take part in the events organised for the inauguration of the newly restored Citadella in Victoria.
