Maundy Thursday, called also Holy Thursday, is the beginning of the three day celebration of Easter, which is the most important time in the liturgical year for Christians. The Pascal Triduum recounts the Last Supper, Passion and Death and finally the Resurrection of Christ.
The much awaited Lenten experience succeeded. The Basilica of Xagħra was packed with people: Gozitans, Maltese and even foreigners who attended for ‘Crucifixus’. It was truly a spiritual experience which joined three elements: ART, MUSIC and LITERATURE. Schola Cantorum Jubilate was responsible for the musical part.
As the end of the Lenten Period reaches us, let's all focus on its significance and try to revert to God. Let's thank him for the many graces he continually gives us... let's thank him for Pope Francesco. Schola Cantorum Jubilate is busily preparing for its forthcoming concert Crucifixus. Extracts from a recent rehearsal and an interview with the choir leader, will be featured on Għawdex Illum on Saturday 16th March on TVM at 6.45pm, on Sunday 17th at 8.20am on TVM2, on Monday 18th at 4.45pm on TVM2 and on Wednesday 20th March at 12.30 on TVM2. Another interview will be featured on RTK on Tuesday 19th March.
Like in previous years, the choristers had a Recollection Session, a spiritual activity of the Lenten Period. They met at Dar Ġużeppa Debono where a mass and two talks were delivered by psychologist Rev. Dr. Joseph Farrugia.
The Catholic Church today is going through very execptional and extraordinary moments. Today the world saw the last appearance of Benedict XVI as the successor of Peter and leader of the Roman Catholic Church. For the members of Schola Cantorum Jubilate this Pope has a special place in their hearts and wonderful memories to cherish.
